Responsibilities:
Our incoming associate teacher must possess outstanding skills for maximizing learning and a commitment to helping nurture a school that rivals the best private schools in New York City. The associate teacher has the following core responsibilities:
- Lead co-curricular programs: recess, lunch, athletics, study hall, and advisory.
- Teach one academic area of interest and skill (often science, reading, or writing).
- Demonstrate professional conduct and a thoughtful, team-oriented approach in timeliness, attendance, communication, decision-making, follow-through, and adherence to school policies.
- Manage routines and environments to ensure safety, academic performance, holistic growth, and a warm and inviting classroom culture that reinforces our school creed.
- Build genuine relationships with families through daily engagement, formal and informal written correspondence, meetings, and volunteer opportunities.
- Reflect on and improve professional practices with mission-focus, depth, and honesty.
Compensation:Harlem Academy offers a challenging and supportive work environment, leadership and professional growth opportunities, health benefits, and a salary starting at $38,000. Daily responsibilities are generally from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with occasional work outside of regular hours.
