Thank you for making Harlem Academy’s Spring Benefit such a success. Last night, more than 400 guests joined us at the Pierre, raising over $1 million toward scholarships and opening the door for promising students to fulfill their dreams.
In his keynote address, Trustee W. Graham Cole shared what makes our students so special: “Our students have the intellectual power, the ambition, the desire to learn, and the strength of character that warrant opportunity in a nation that has always prized opportunity. Just walking around the school is constantly uplifting – kids smiling, happy, energetic. I have every confidence that these youngsters will go on to do terrific things with their lives and make a difference in whatever they do.”
Brandon Davis ’15 reflected on his inspiring journey from Harlem Academy to the doorstep of college: “So much of who I am today is because of this school. Harlem Academy showed me that it was okay to dream… and dream big. In moments of doubt, you have to push through, seek help, and keep working until you achieve your goals. I’m happy to have reached one of mine, and I can’t wait to start classes at Cornell University – my dream school – this fall.”
“Like Brandon, our students – past and present – are the best of the next generation of leaders. They are young people striving to achieve their dreams through excellence, determination, and hard work. And we are grateful to our teachers, families, and supporters for helping them get there,” remarked Head of School Vinny Dotoli.
Our sincerest thanks to W. Graham Cole and Brandon Davis for sharing their remarks.
