The Answer: 655 St. Nicholas Avenue!
I am thrilled to announce that Future Leaders: The Capital Campaign for Harlem Academy has crossed the 90% threshold, having raised $28.4 million toward the $31 million budget. Last night, our Board of Trustees authorized a critical step toward the construction of our permanent campus – the selection of the project’s construction manager.
Our new, permanent home will allow us to double in size, expanding our impact from 120 to 240 students. We will add kindergarten, a second section to each middle school grade, a library to match our extraordinary reading culture, and a large outdoor space for play and sports. The now-empty lot will soon be transformed into a vibrant space to nurture and challenge our students to realize their fullest potential.
Harlem Academy's mission to drive equity of opportunity for promising students has always been at the heart of this campaign. Our new campus will strengthen our already extraordinary sense of community, inspire bold creativity, and cultivate our best work. Most of all, it will ensure a lasting pathway for generations of leaders to come.
There is still work to do – completing the last $2.6 million of our capital campaign, funding our critical annual campaign for scholarships, and continuing to strengthen our transformational program. Groundbreaking is projected for May 2020, and our move is scheduled for July 2021. I will keep you updated as progress continues.
With appreciation always,
Vincent A. Dotoli
