Today marks Harlem Academy’s 17th opening day!
Our mission to guide students to thrive at the highest academic levels and one day make a mark on the world was on full display – even though classes were held remotely with only a few small pods of students working from school.
Our COVID-19 Response Plan focuses on safety, wellness, academic growth, and partnership, and I’m so proud of how our students, teachers, families, and staff worked together to ensure a successful start to the new school year.
Already this morning, I’ve seen the kind of eager, joyful engagement that is the hallmark of our program and the fuel for our extraordinary results. Book talks from summer reading, debates on the impact of a civil rights painting in history, testing the first hypotheses in science, getting stumped by advanced problem solving in math, plus many moments of laughter and connection – it’s all part of a day in the life of an HA student, and we won’t let the pandemic change that.
Don’t get me wrong, our families continue to face extraordinary challenges, and we’ll be excited to get everyone back on campus when the time is right. However, we continue to prove that when we work together, there is nothing we can't overcome.
