2021-2022 Progress Report

Dear Friends,

A few months ago, we connected with graduate Mark Abreu ‘18 before he headed to Atlanta to begin his freshman year at Morehouse College. It was so gratifying to hear him recall the rigor and growth he experienced as a student here, in addition to the strong sense of determination he developed. “When I came to this school, the work was much more challenging,” he told us. “I learned to push myself and get out of my comfort zone, to not settle or give in to what’s easy. Harlem Academy changed my life.” Mark used the lessons he learned here to succeed at Peddie, and he intends to do the same as he continues his academic journey at Morehouse.

Mark’s words reflect a critical part of our mission: guiding promising students to thrive at the highest academic levels. I am proud to share that for the sixth consecutive year, 100% of our eighth graders matriculated at selective secondary schools, including Chapin, Horace Mann, Riverdale, and Trinity. And every member of the class of 2018 entered four-year colleges, including Haverford, Northwestern, NYU, and Yale.

Graduate success is just one of many achievements to celebrate. Please read our progress report to learn more about what we have accomplished, including the move to our permanent campus, where we have room to double our impact.

With gratitude,
Vinny Dotoli
