Dear HA Families,
I want to start by saying how proud I am of our teachers, students, and parents for all your resilience, collaboration, hard work, and achievement through the winter trimester. Essays, poetry, great books, math competitions, science experiments, mindfulness practices, and engaged participation in classes every day... it's really just amazing!
We have to remain vigilant in our pandemic response and will continue with our remote program with most students learning from home through the end of the school year. With that said, the data has improved enough that we are planning to reopen the building for a small group of students to do remote learning from school when we return from spring break starting Monday, March 29. This will work very similar to the fall program. Ms. Garcia has already been in contact with families who said they were interested on our last survey, and any other parents are welcome to reach out to her to see about available spaces.
Additionally, some students, parents, and teachers have asked about organizing some occasional in-person activities for each class, especially as the weather gets warmer in the spring. Stay tuned - we hear you and are working to make that happen.
Related to the above, we also know that families (especially in eighth grade) are eager for news about graduation. The hope is that we are able to do something in person, even if just for a small group. However, it's just too early to tell if that can happen. We want to see where things are in April and then work together to come up with the best plan.
Turning to next year, outstanding progress continues on construction of our new schoolhouse. Anyone who walks by or checks out HACampusLiveFeed can see that we have made it all the way to the top floor with concrete and steel. Meanwhile, they have enclosed the lower floors and are rapidly moving up the building with plumbing, electric, and carpentry. It has been really fun to share some additional photos and answer questions for students in recent months. We are still working to ensure the earliest possible move-in date. It will definitely be early in the fall, and we should have an exact date to announce next month when we will also do a parent Zoom meeting to discuss all aspects of the transition.
Finally, if there is anything we can do to collaborate with you through the ongoing challenges of the pandemic or in building our school toward the strongest realization of its mission, please reach out to Ms. Davis, me, or any member of our team.
I hope everyone has a restful evening, an inspired Friday, and then a rejuvenating spring break.
With best wishes always,
