Dear HA Families,
I hope your family enjoyed a safe, happy holiday season and a successful return to classes.
Given the current COVID-19 rates, Harlem Academy will continue fully remote learning for the time being. We are looking for a 7-day positivity rate to be consistently close to or under 4% citywide and no significant spikes in rates in the neighborhoods near school and from where most of our students and staff travel. As of January 3, the citywide rate had climbed to 6.7%, with a rate in the Bronx of 8.5%. Our hope is that numbers will come down so that we can reopen a couple small pods for virtual learning from school soon, but the infection rate is not at a point where we can schedule a date.
When we reopen, learning from school will continue to include physical distancing, mask requirements, upgraded ventilation, and strong cleaning/disinfecting to make learning from school safe. We are also looking into adding rapid tests, where everyone using the school building would be tested on the day we restart the learning from school option and every 2 to 3 weeks thereafter.
To safely and effectively plan for you and the needs of all our families, please complete this new survey: January 2021 Family Survey.
It’s really important that we hear from everyone so we can continue to support learning from home and understand how best to prioritize for the reopening of learning from school pods.
I hope you can complete the January 2021 Family Survey today and definitely by this Friday.
Stay safe, and thanks again for your support and partnership,

Dear HA Families,
If you have not had a chance to complete this week's required survey to help us safely and effectively plan for the winter program, please do so today by clicking on this link: January 2021 Family Survey.
Thanks very much to the families who have already helped out by taking care of this. I just wanted to send this reminder to help get us to 100% and avoid lots of extra follow-up work for Ms. Garcia and Ms. Feliz.
Your help is very much appreciated.
Have a good day and weekend.
