We have exciting news! Yesterday, we officially broke ground at 655 St. Nicholas Avenue, the site of Harlem Academy’s permanent home.
The five-story, 29,000-square-foot building will expand the school's impact to more students and strengthen our program. It will feature a library to match our extraordinary reading culture, flexible classrooms with strong technology, a multipurpose space, and dedicated outdoor spaces for learning, play, and sports. Located in the heart of the communities we serve, the campus is within walking distance of public transportation, City College, historic landmarks, and city parks.
“After years of planning, support, and hard work by so many, it is inspiring to see construction begin on our new school building in the heart of the communities we serve,” says Head of School Vinny Dotoli. “Our new home will ensure a lasting pathway to opportunity for generations to come.”
Adds one of our fifth grade parents: “Let's get in the new building and show the world that Harlem Academy is creating the next wave of future leaders, political advocates, and global citizens!”
Take a look at groundbreaking in action from yesterday morning.
Stay tuned for more updates on the progress of construction in the coming months.
