Campus Update

Campus Update

PROJECT BACKGROUND

Founded in 2004, Harlem Academy currently operates from three non-contiguous spaces totaling 10,000 SF. The school’s current location has no playground, little flex or common space, and no room to grow. In 2014, Harlem Academy purchased a half-acre lot at 655 St. Nicholas Avenue (near 145th Street) to build a permanent campus in the heart of the communities we serve.

Perkins Eastman has designed a 28,500 SF, five-story building to anchor the new campus and double the school’s impact to 240 students. The new building will provide enhanced classrooms, an expanded library, a large, multi-purpose community space, and a dedicated playground with a full basketball court. The school has raised $26.1M of the $31M campaign total. Groundbreaking is scheduled for May 2020 and completion by August 2021.
