Three months ago, 655 St. Nicholas Avenue was just an empty lot. Now foundation work on our new schoolhouse is nearly complete, concrete structural walls are going up, and steel will be on-site by the end of the month.   The site of Harlem Academy’s future campus is transformed a little more each day – and we’re excited to share the journey with you. We have exciting news! Yesterday, we officially broke ground at 655 St. Nicholas Avenue, the site of Harlem Academy’s permanent home.   The five-story, 29,000-square-foot building will expand the school's impact to more students and strengthen our program. The Answer: 655 St. Nicholas Avenue!  I am thrilled to announce that Future Leaders: The Capital Campaign for Harlem Academy has crossed the 90% threshold, having raised $28.4 million toward the $31 million budget. Last night, our Board of Trustees authorized a critical step toward the construction of our permanent campus – the selection of the project’s construction manager.   Our new, permanent home will allow us to double in size, expanding our impact from 120 to 240 students. Dear Friends:  I am pleased to announce the launch of Future Leaders: The Capital Campaign for Harlem Academy, a $30 million campaign to fund construction of a permanent campus in Central Harlem. In 2004, this school was just the seed of an idea. With your help, what began as 12 children in a church basement is now 125 students in first through eighth grade.  Today, Harlem Academy is recognized nationally for its best practices.
