Harlem Academy’s new building will have a tremendous impact today and for generations to come. After years in three separate storefronts, our students can now learn and grow in one campus designed to inspire, challenge, and support them. Check out these before and after photos to see the incredible transformation.   In past years, students and teachers had to navigate three storefront spaces. Now, they walk into one main, welcoming entryway.   The classrooms in our old space were tight...

Dear Friends,  In just a few minutes, the Harlem Academy team will officially open the doors and welcome students to our new building at 655 St. Nicholas Avenue. Joy and enthusiasm will surely fill this space – not just today as students take in the beautiful campus for the first time – but for years and decades to come.  A small gathering of teachers, administrators, and trustees cut the ribbon on our new campus (led by two graduates who have now joined our full-time team) Thank you to...

Dear Friends, What a truly extraordinary day! Following years of dedication to our campus vision and 18 months of seeing the construction only through photos, our students were thrilled to walk through the doors and experience their new school. They took in the commons with wide-eyed wonder, eagerly climbed the stairs to large, sunny classrooms, spent time reading in the inviting library, enjoyed a healthy lunch with classmates in the café, and much more. It was wonderful to see (and hear)...

Brickwork is complete. Windows are installed. Most of the rooms are painted, and fixtures and flooring are going in. We hope you enjoy this virtual tour and can’t wait to share more as we get ready to move in December...

The Answer: 655 St. Nicholas Avenue!  I am thrilled to announce that Future Leaders: The Capital Campaign for Harlem Academy has crossed the 90% threshold, having raised $28.4 million toward the $31 million budget. Last night, our Board of Trustees authorized a critical step toward the construction of our permanent campus – the selection of the project’s construction manager.   Our new, permanent home will allow us to double in size, expanding our impact from 120 to 240 students. We will add...

Dear Friends:  I am pleased to announce the launch of Future Leaders: The Capital Campaign for Harlem Academy, a $30 million campaign to fund construction of a permanent campus in Central Harlem. In 2004, this school was just the seed of an idea. With your help, what began as 12 children in a church basement is now 125 students in first through eighth grade.  Today, Harlem Academy is recognized nationally for its best practices. Our students show tremendous growth, with graduates moving on...
