School Tour

In December 2021, Harlem Academy moved to 655 St. Nicholas Avenue – right in the heart of the communities we serve. The new, five-story school will allow Harlem Academy to nearly double enrollment, add a kindergarten, and strengthen its program. Most importantly, this building ensures a permanent path to opportunity for generations to come.

The front entrance is welcoming and filled with abundant natural light.

When students walk into Harlem Academy, they are welcomed in an open and airy commons with a view into the library above.

Students enjoy a healthy and delicious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack each day in the cafe.

As students ascend to the second floor landing, our pillars and School Creed prominently display our shared values as a community.

The expansive library serves as the heart of the school and a wonderful expression of our strong reading culture with lots of comfortable seating and room for 6,000+ books!

The library opens onto a large outdoor terrace (still under construction) that will feature seating for individuals and entire classes, plus a variety of trees, shrubs, and grasses.

Each of the 12 classrooms features two bays of operable windows, strong technology, ample storage, and seating for 18 students.

And back outside, here’s a view of our whole building and play yard, which features a soccer field, basketball hoops, and outdoor gathering areas.
