Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers, along with our staff and families, serve as the life force of this school. Our volunteers come from all walks of life with varied gifts, talents, and areas of expertise, but they all have one common purpose: to fully support and encourage the promise and potential within each child. It is a team effort.

Visit

Come visit Harlem Academy and learn first-hand about this much-needed urban education program. Contact Stan Orser at sorser@harlemacademy.org or 212.348.2600 x306 to schedule a visit.

Serve as an Ambassador

To help the school expand its philanthropic network, ambassadors introduce the school to individuals, family foundations, corporations, or other organizations that have an interest in supporting the kind of educational opportunity the school provides. Ambassadors co-lead tours, sharing information about why they are involved with Harlem Academy and occasionally host small gatherings off-site. Prospective ambassadors may contact Stan Orser at sorser@harlemacademy.org or 212.348.2600 x306.

Tutors are asked to commit to working with a student for 45 minutes each week over the course of at least one trimester and hopefully for a year or more. Tutoring takes place daily in our library from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. or 5:00 to 5:45 p.m.
