Grade Seven

Grade-seven students learn to use prime numbers, common factors, and common multiples. Students continue their work on fractions and decimals, converting between the two forms, comparing and ordering them, and applying the four operations to them. Students use the scientific calculator to find squares, square roots, cubes, and cube roots of numbers. Problem solving explores mass, length, time, and money as well as ratios, proportions, and percentages. Students learn the concept of real numbers, to recognize rational and irrational numbers, to handle statistical data, and to construct different graphs and charts to represent information. Students advance in their work on perimeter, area, volume, and surface area and explore planes, solid figures, and more complex properties of angles.
