Harlem Academy strives to reflect the varied economic, cultural, and religious backgrounds of the families who live in our surrounding area.

Data from the 2000 Census reveal that Harlem has over 20,000 families living below the poverty line and many more struggling to survive on working class incomes.  However, census data also reveal a significant number of families living in central Harlem with family income above $50,000.  Harlem Academy supports families of all economic backgrounds by using a sliding scale formula to set tuition.  For the 2005-2006 school year, median income for attending families was $28,000.

Projections for the ethnic-racial composition of Harlem Academy, upon reaching a final capacity, are based on the neighborhood census data (2000) shown below.

Our school community is comprised of Christian, Muslim, and Buddhist families, as well as families with no religious affiliation.
