Kelly Brown - Administrative Fellow
Kelly graduated from The City College of New York with a B.A. in advertising and public relations. Prior to coming to Harlem Academy, she worked at a media agency for LG Electronics. Since high school, Kelly has taken on positions with children - including Camp Mohawk Day Camps, SCORE! Educational Center, and a daycare for deaf and hard-of-hearing children.
Daniel Burke - Middle School Teacher
Daniel graduated with a B.A. in English from Harvard University. While at Harvard, Daniel directed an ESL summer camp for immigrant and refugee children in Dorchester, Mass. Prior to joining Harlem Academy, he taught first grade in New Orleans.
Dan Castelli - Communications Fellow
Dan graduated from Macalester College with a B.A. in history and American studies and a minor in media studies. Prior to coming to Harlem Academy, Dan interned at an economic policy nonprofit in Boston and with the public school system of Saint Paul, Minn.
Peter Ebling - Lower School Teacher
Peter graduated from Hobart College with a degree in English. Previously he served as head counselor at Camp Timanous and soccer and basketball coach for youth teams. At Harlem Academy, Peter assists in all lower school grades and coordinates lower school athletics.
Billy Johnson - Middle School Teacher
Billy Johnson began his career as a grade-five teacher at P.S. 92 in Harlem. After four years in public school teaching, he moved to Saint Aloysius School in Harlem where he spent five years teaching grade five, mentoring new teachers, and coordinating summer programs. At Harlem Academy, Billy serves as a teacher, coach, and grade six boys advisor.
Kahdeidra Martin - Dean of Students
Kahdeidra has worked in the intersections of education and community development for more than 10 years. She graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in African & African American studies and a minor in linguistics. She is currently pursuing an M.A. in educational leadership studies from Teachers College, Columbia University. As dean of students, Kahdeidra will supervise behavior management and advisory curriculum in the lower school and coordinate secondary school placement for middle school students.
Stanton Orser - Development Director
Stan has 30 years of fundraising experience and a passion for the mission and vision of Harlem Academy. Previously, he worked for the American Museum of
Natural History, Lawrenceville School (N.J.), and Cranbrook School (Mich.). He started his own consultancy practice in 1995, working with groups such as Eastern Michigan University, Detroit Institute of Arts, and NextEnergy. Stan holds a B.A. in English literature from Princeton University.
Tanielle Parker - Grade Three Teacher
Tanielle holds a M.A. in education and human development from George Washington University. She obtained her M.A. through the DC Teaching Fellows Program. She is dual certified in early childhood and special education and taught in the District of Columbia Public School system for four years. She also holds a B.A. in administration of justice with a minor in juvenile justice from the University of the District of Columbia.
