Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers, along with our staff and families, serve as the life force of this school. Our volunteers come from all walks of life with varied gifts, talents, and areas of expertise, but they all have one common purpose: to fully support and encourage the promise and potential within each child. It is a team effort.

Serve as an Ambassador - Introduce the school to individuals, family foundations, corporations, or other organizations that have an interest in supporting the kind of educational opportunity the school provides.  Prospective ambassadors may contact Susan Johnson at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Tutoring - Tutor an elementary or middle school student in one or more core academic areas: reading, math, or writing. No teaching experience is required. Time commitment: 45 minutes per week - 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. or 5:00 to 5:45 p.m. Prospective tutors may contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Guest Speaker/Instructor – Share your expertise, passion, and experiences with Harlem Academy students. Content has to be relevant to a grade’s course of study. Time commitment: 1 hour

Spring Benefit Committee - Join other volunteers to celebrate Harlem Academy and raise critical scholarship funds at this annual April event. Committee members plan the party, build the auction, and organize hosts and attendees. Time commitment: varies depending on level of involvement and proximity to event

Climb for Harlem Academy Committee - Have fun, exercise, and raise money for a worthy cause. This annual ride in September attracts all levels of cyclists and riders choose between several routes between scenic Westchester and Fairfield counties. Sign up to ride or join the planning committee. Time commitment: varies depending on level of involvement and proximity to event
